Voice control should feel
like a gift, not a wall.

We are a small independent team, and we started out as voice control users ourselves.

The first time you drive a computer with your voice, it genuinely feels like magic. What surprised us was everything around that moment. The best engine available, Talon, is powerful and free, but getting started means the Terminal, Git, Python files, and a learning curve you mostly climb alone. Even once it works, your commands live in config files that are hard to browse, harder to search, and easy to lose track of.

We kept coming back to the same thought: there had to be a better way to do this. Not a better engine, because Talon already is one, but a better everything else. So we built it.

Starky sets Talon up for you, and then checks its own work, so what you see on screen is what is actually running rather than what ought to be. It arrives knowing every command on your Mac and lets you search them the way you would say them out loud. Its lessons come to you, floating above your mail or your browser instead of asking you to sit and watch a tutorial. Talon does the listening and the doing. Starky makes it something you can live in.

One rule has shaped almost every decision since: Starky has to be usable by voice itself. If the app that teaches you voice control cannot be driven by voice, nothing else it claims is worth much. So every screen, every list, and every control is reachable without touching the keyboard, and we treat a gap there as a bug rather than a feature request.

Some people come to voice control because typing hurts. Some come because they simply prefer it. Either way the wall at the start is the same, and that wall is what we exist to remove.
